September is here! Hopefully fall will soon follow. Do you have any exciting plans to see pretty leaves? I am considering a few short drives to regional, national, and state parks in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.
This month’s photo comes from the always stunning San Juan National Forest in Colorado. The aspens tend to put on their best show the final week of September into the first week or two of October.
During my decade of near constant travel, Durango and the surrounding national forests were almost always part of my fall road trip. Even though I hiked similar trails and drove the same scenic roads year after year, the stunning colors, mountain views, and crisp air never felt repetitive.
